2004 (78 min) The End of Suburbia explores the American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. The trailer gives you full flavor of the nature of this film – entertaining, while at the same time both provocative, educational and . . .alarming
What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire 2007 (203 min) This is not just another "ecotastrophe" movie. It¨s a personal, poetic, and challenging cultural analysis of the mess Western and rich capitalist societies are in. The imagery and soundtrack moves the viewer at the level of emotions, while at the same time the intellectual content encourages reflexivity and questions. It offers the challenge of unresolved questions and personal responsibility, rather than easy answers. There¨s no `happy chapter¨ at the end, but this film offers hope, of a mythic, initiatory kind, for those willing to journey into the unknown.
The Power of Community - How Cuba Survived Peak Oil 2006 (53 min) This film is is a project of The Community Solution. It provides an unusual look into the Cuban culture during this economic crisis, which they call "The Special Period." The film opens with a short history of Peak Oil, a term for the time in our history when world oil production will reach its all-time peak and begin to decline forever. Cuba, the only country that has faced such a crisis – the massive reduction of fossil fuels – is an example of options and hope. |
