We CAN live more sustainably. Our world is suffering because of unwise choices that we have made in the past. But, if we shift our vision and our behaviors to ones that nourish and support life, all things are possible!
We can begin today. We can conserve our resources by reducing, reusing, recycling and rethinking the way we live. We have the technologies and the resources at hand to move from a fossil fuel-based economy to one that is fueled by clean, abundant, renewable energy from the sun, wind, and the constant temperature of the earth. All these resources are abundant and life giving. We need to work together to make this happen.
We have the capacity to make our buildings energy efficient so that they no longer require fossil fuels to operate. Many cities and states already are developing programs to do just that. And, as individuals, there are lots of ways we can begin in our own homes, workplaces and houses of worship.
We can create and support local and fairly traded economies, restructure how we grow our food, and invest in public transit. And we can work together to redistribute our resources and wealth so that there is enough for all.
Can We Stop Climate Change? Yes - But it will not be easy. Scientists agree that the world's average temperature will rise about 2 degrees F in the next 50 years, no matter what we do. But if we act today, there's a good chance that global temperatures could level off after 2050.
While it is true that actions taken solely by individuals and households will not be enough to reverse the path of climate change, there are MANY things each of us can do to make a difference. There are choices and steps that you can take, particularly if you have the support of others.
Get to Work! Won't you take a few minutes to explore the action steps included on this website? Then set aside some time to develop a program tailored to your lifestyle. Better yet - do this with friends, family or co-workers. We can help you get started with a Low Carbon Diet or Lifestyles of Enough group. You'll find that challenges of learning how to live more sustainably are fun, rewarding, and can build relationships! Need we say more? Sign up for E-COnnections, and stay in touch with EJC! |

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
